SOUND/FRIENDS

Mas Y Mas

The Brooklyn-based Sound/Friends just released the Mas Y Mas full-length “Proud Sponsors of Pepsi.” Yes, I am friends with them, but I honestly think it’s one of the best releases of the year. Other releases are equally impressive (7″‘s featuring The House Floor, Conjov, and Chubby Behemoth). If you are skeptical, you can listen to everything for free. Sound/Friends is organized by the amazing kids at Playlab, “an American Design Studio.”

I mentioned the new Gary Panter book in a previous post, but now I want to talk about the publisher, Picturebox Inc. They sell art, clothes, books and zines all created by artists with a distinct underground whimsy. I got the new Panter book in the mail a few weeks ago, and am totally impressed by the quality of the product. Picturebox is going to get a lot of repeat business from me. (shown above is a print by Leif Goldberg)

part of it

part of it is a project run by frequent faesthetic collaborators Christopher Sleboda and Kathleen Burns (aka Gluekit.) Part of It works with artists to create products for causes they are passionate about. Sales from products benefit charities chosen by the artists. Featured here is a bag designed by Wyeth Hansen, who also made a fantastic shirt for the Select line.
